Here's what I have read so far:
Hope for Hashimotos (Dr Alexander Haskell)
I liked this book as it was relatively easy to read, not too long or repetitive and it solely focused on Hashimotos and is based on medical texts and journals as opposed to hearsay and speculation. The book is divided into five sections:
1. New perspectives on Hashimto's and it's causes
2. Nine crucial mistakes
3. Dedicate 3 months to recovering your health- Phase I,II,III
4. Breast disease (skipped this chapter)
5. Call to action
Unlike most authors Dr Haskell he does not categorize Hashimotos as an incurable disease but rather as a condition which is primarily the result of nutrient deficiencies and nutritional habits. Whether this is the case or not he believes that there are millions of people that do not know they have Hashimotos.
Despite the fact that Dr Haskell is a naturopathic doctor he believes that a thyroid prescription is vital for your recovery from Hashimotos, but only as a tool to reduce your TSH as opposed to the magic cure all. This is in contrast to Dr Datis who suggests that thyroid medication might actually hamper your recovery.
By far the most important sections in the book were the nice crucial mistakes people make and the section on recovering your health. The mistakes people make include:
Believing Hashimoto's is a disease
Relying only on a thyroid prescription
Believing iodine is good for their thyroid*
Starting with a conventional dose of thyroid medication
Recovering with T3- By Paul Robinson
Your Thyroid and How to Keep it Healthy: The Great Thyroid Scandal and How to Survive it (Dr Barry Durrant Peatfield)
The Thyroid Solution (Ridha Arem)
Why do I have thyroid symptoms if my tests are normal (Dr Datis)
